The Intersection of Gas and Coal in Pennsylvania

“The Intersection of Gas and Coal in Pennsylvania” traces the evolution of the state’s law concerning the competing interests of coal owners and gas operators. The article then provides an overview of the current Pennsylvania laws and asks: What operations are coal and oil and gas operators allowed to engage in at any given time? Finally, the authors detail whether damages for “interference” caused by competing oil and gas operations may be recoverable.
